Junior School

By Mrs Crawford-Smith (IB PYP Coordinator)

At the start of every new school year, each class across the Junior School takes time to create their Central Agreement. These are not just classroom rules, but shared commitments that the girls develop together, reflecting on how they want their learning community to feel and how they will treat one another.

As an IB school, we believe that when children have ownership of their environment, they show greater responsibility, respect, and care for those around them. The process of building a Central Agreement encourages thoughtful discussion, active listening, and collaboration, and the resulting statements are proudly displayed in every classroom.

Already this term, we have seen the girls living out their agreements; supporting each other, making kind choices, and taking responsibility for their learning. It is always inspiring to see how these shared promises set the tone for a positive and purposeful year ahead.
