Every student is unique, and we are committed to helping each one reach her full potential.

In our academically selective environment, we recognise that some students with recognised needs will require tailored support and guidance to achieve their best.

Our dedicated SEND team work hand-in-hand with their academic and pastoral colleagues to provide tailored support, whether that be short-term interventions or long-term bespoke programmes designed around individual needs.

Our Girl-Centred Approach

Led by our Director of SEND, the department partners closely with students, parents, teaching and pastoral staff to create practical evidence- based strategies that scaffold learning for students who have additional needs.

Our approach focuses on what works best for girls. Our strategies are shaped by research, experience, and delivered in collaboration with our pastoral team to meet each student’s unique profile. As an all-through school, we ensure that every girl’s learning journey is continuous, with the support and understanding from the moment she joins us.

We take time to know our students and their families. Regular reviews mean the student receives the right, integrated support to meet their needs at the right time.  This often starts before a student joins us through open conversations ahead of entrance assessments. Transparency is at the heart of what we do; we will always be honest about whether we can meet a student’s needs within our environment.

Our SEND team also works closely with external specialists to ensure we have access to wider resources and expertise to fully support the students throughout their time at BGS.
