What a special week it has been in the Junior School as we came together to celebrate Children’s Mental Health Week. This year’s theme, This Is My Place, invited us to reflect on what it truly means to feel safe, supported and valued in our classrooms, friendships, homes and wider community.
We began the week with an assembly exploring how we can help everyone feel a sense of belonging. Pupils thoughtfully considered what makes them feel safe and connected, and how they can offer that same feeling to others.
Our lunchtime yoga session was wonderfully attended, as children stretched, slowed their breathing and reflected on feeling safe in their bodies and secure in their place within our school community. The calm, shared space created a genuine sense of togetherness.
During pebble painting, pupils designed stones with powerful messages such as You matter, We belong, and Kind hearts live here. It was heart-warming to see children of all ages collaborating and encouraging one another, a reminder that even a small pebble can carry a big message.
The poster competition also showcased exceptional creativity and thoughtfulness, with pupils beautifully expressing what belonging means to them.
As Wellbeing Champion, it has been uplifting to witness such empathy and openness. While mental health education is woven into daily school life, this week has reminded us how powerful it is to pause and prioritise it together.
Thank you to our staff, pupils and families for making the week so meaningful. Let’s continue to nurture a school where every child can confidently say, This is my place.
