Bedford Girls’ School is proud of its excellent 2024 results across the IB Diploma Programme, A Levels and GCSE examinations.

Our Upper Sixth cohort have done exceptionally well with half of all grades awarded at the highest two grades (A*/A or 7/6) and three quarters of all grades at A*-B (A level and IB Diploma combined).

We are incredibly proud of our students, who have embraced the challenges of Sixth Form with dedication and determination. They have made the most of their final two years at BGS, excelling both in and out of the classroom. As they move forward, they leave us as capable, confident young adults, ready to embrace the exciting opportunities that lie ahead.

Our IB cohort performed extremely well achieving an average score of 37 points (against a worldwide average of 30), with a third of the cohort achieving over 40 points.

In Year 11, almost two-thirds of all GCSE entries were awarded grades 9-7 (equivalent to A and above), with over 23% receiving the top grade of 9.

Mrs Gemma Gibson, Headmistress of Bedford Girls' School, commented: “I am extremely proud of these students, they have shown remarkable resilience and enthusiasm throughout their GCSE and Sixth Form journey. They have embraced every challenge, taken advantage of numerous opportunities, and grown both academically and personally. They move on to the next stage of their education as well-rounded, confident young adults, fully prepared for the exciting futures that await them. These results come on the back of an outstanding ISI Report and the Muddy Stiletto’s Most Inclusive School Award, highlighting the exceptional education that BGS offers.”

The school values all of the diverse journeys that our Sixth Form students choose to take with their qualifications. The rich and varied mix of further study courses is testament to this: Civil Engineering, Chinese with Social Anthropology, Architecture, Actuarial Science, Law, Medicine, Criminology, Linguistics, Banking and International Finance, Philosophy, Computer Science, Politics and International Relations, Biochemistry, Theatre Production, and Fine Art, to name a few.
