By Mrs Whitlock (Head of The Bridge Careers Service)

On Friday 27th June, our Lower Sixth students took part in UCAS Day, to help them prepare for the next step in their education journey. The day began with an introduction to the UCAS application process. During this session, students were given essential information about key dates and internal deadlines, ensuring they understand the timeline ahead.

Our Lower Sixth students made a strong start on their UCAS applications, taking the morning off timetable to focus fully on beginning to shape their plans for life after BGS. The sessions included detailed guidance on the new personal statement format, presented by representatives from the universities of Lancaster and Glasgow. In addition, students received practical advice on choosing courses wisely, applying strategically, managing timeframes and effectively completing each section of the application.

Alongside these presentations, there was also time for students to explore a wide range of resources available to support their decision-making process. This helped them to gain confidence in making informed choices about their future pathways, whether that involves university, gap years, apprenticeships, or entering the workforce.
