On Friday 27th June, Year 7 marked the end of an action-packed school year with an exciting trip to Warwick Castle.
The day kicked off with a thrilling jousting show, where the Lancastrians and the Yorkists clashed in a dramatic battle for the throne. Cheers echoed across the arena as students rooted for their house colours, especially when the red rose of Lancaster claimed victory. The show ended with a powerful moment as the red and white roses united, symbolising the beginning of the Tudor dynasty.
Afterwards, students gathered for a picnic during the awe-inspiring Falconer’s Quest. Eagles, owls, and other birds of prey soared above the crowd in an incredible display of flight and skill. A special highlight was watching a magnificent condor take to the skies with its enormous wingspan leaving everyone in awe.
In the afternoon, Year 7 explored the historic castle grounds, including the grand state rooms and the eerie Castle Gaol. Some brave students even had a go in the stocks, adding to the fun and laughter of the day.
Zoë (Year 7) said: “At Warwick Castle, my favourite part was the birds of prey show. I also really liked the view from the top of the castle. I’ll never forget the long trip up all of the winding stairs. Overall, Warwick Castle was a really wonderful day out!”
Lia (Year 7) added: “The most memorable moments were the birds of prey show as there were very amazing rare birds of prey including the sea eagle. They were trained very well especially for the last part where they let out loads of red kites and other species! The jousting was also notable because they started a bonfire while on their horses and performed lots of vaults, where the riders hang upside down on moving horses. They also had very well trained horses and performers, because the horses continued in the same formation as when the riders were dangling off the horse! All in all the trip was an awesome experience for the whole year.”
It was a packed schedule, full of history, excitement and unforgettable memories. A perfect way to end the year!
