A Literary Feast!

Sixth Form English

By Mrs Graves (Head of English)

This week we sadly have to say goodbye to our Upper Sixth IB students as they start their exam leave. To celebrate our final lessons, we were lucky enough to get a sunny afternoon to share a global feast. Members of the Higher Level English Literature class brought in foods to represent the different cultures of the literature that we have read over the past two years, and we all enjoyed a discussion reminiscing on our favourite moments of the texts and our lessons together.

The feast itself was a somewhat eclectic mix, with a cheese board representing the French Riviera setting of Bonjour Tristesse and a fruit platter only a little less tempting than that of the Goblins in Rossetti's Victorian narrative poem, Goblin Market. A special mention has to go, however, to Ruva who wowed us all with her hand-made beef patties, a nod to the Trinidadian novel Love after Love; we would definitely award her Star Baker!

It was a great opportunity to reflect on how far the students have come over the last two years and we bid them a fond farewell with all best wishes for the summer ahead!
