Raising Awareness Together

Sixth Form

At the beginning of the Spring Term, Lower Sixth students were introduced to the Campaign Challenge. The challenge encourages students to work collaboratively and creatively while learning about global issues and methods of raising awareness. It provides an opportunity to communicate perspectives on important topics and engage the school community in meaningful conversation. Students work in small groups, each selecting a cause they are passionate about.

Each group started their planning to assess existing knowledge of their causes within the student body, groups then shaped their approach to maximise impact.

Working collaboratively, the students then launched their campaigns in a Senior School assembly and then had three weeks to raise awareness of their issues. This year there were lots of interactive activities at lunch, social media posts and merchandise that had been made by the groups to raise awareness and get everyone thinking and talking!

At the end of the campaigns the senior school students and staff were surveyed to find out which campaign was the most prominent and had the most impact, what they had enjoyed about the campaigns, and what they had learned from the campaigns.

The group that was voted to have been the most prominent and had the most impact was We Mind (campaigning for women’s empowerment), followed by Screen VS Sport in second, in third place was Political Literacy for Young People and in fourth was Sleep Deprivation.

Younger students commented that the campaigns were ‘interesting, informative, interactive and that they enjoyed the creative ways to get them engaged in issues such as health and politics’.

Well done to all the students in the Lower Sixth for all their hard work and commitment to the campaigns!
