Sixth Form Music

By Mrs Jones (Music Teacher)

The annual Music Society Dinner, held at Bedford School earlier this term, was a wonderful celebration of music, friendship, and shared achievement across the school community. Students from GCSE, A Level, IB and co-curricular music programmes gathered for an evening of camaraderie, dressed to the nines and enjoying the opportunity to celebrate the progress and musical collaboration that has flourished throughout the year.

Guests were treated to a beautifully presented three-course meal, creating a fitting backdrop for an evening that reflected the warmth and spirit of the Music Society. We were especially delighted to welcome Philip Stopford as our guest speaker. As an Old Boy of the school, Philip shared entertaining stories from his own time at Bedford School, alongside thoughtful reflections on life as a professional composer and working musician.

A particular highlight of the evening was the recognition of students in Upper Sixth, as well as those leaving in Year 11, whose contributions to music at the school have been so valued. It was inspiring to hear and celebrate the strong sense of camaraderie built through years of shared rehearsals, lessons, and performances. The dinner served as a reminder not only of the musical talent within the school, but also of the lasting friendships and community that music continues to foster.
