Sixth Form Wellbeing

On Monday and Tuesday this week, several of our Lower Sixth students attended a well-being festival designed to help them unwind after their exams and recharge ahead of a busy half term.

Held at Layer Marney Tower near Colchester, the group had exclusive access to the estate. As well as exploring the peaceful grounds, students climbed the Tudor tower and enjoyed views across the surrounding countryside. The setting, with its historic buildings and open green space, offered a calm and refreshing change of pace.

Jazzy Lidder (Lower Sixth) reflected on the trip: “Our Lower Sixth overnight well-being festival trip was nothing short of unforgettable. Excitement filled the air from the moment we left school, with our first stop in Cambridge where we enjoyed lunch, shopping, and time with friends in the sunshine.

“The real fun began upon arrival at Layer Marney, where the sight of Mrs Lonsdale (Sixth Form Pastoral Officer) and Mrs Woolley (Director of Sixth Form) dressed as pink flamingos had the entire year group smiling and laughing. That evening, we got creative with glitter face paint and hair tinsels before dancing the night away at a silent disco. The food throughout the trip was amazing, but a clear highlight was Joe’s ice cream van – complete with endless toppings.

“Day two offered a perfect mix of creativity and calm, from designing custom t-shirts and tote bags to relaxing massages and a peaceful sound bath. Overall, the trip was one of the best school experiences I’ve had, not just because of the brilliant activities, but because of the memories made with friends and the fun shared with the teachers in such a beautiful setting.”
