Junior School Performing Arts

By Mrs Schofield (Head of Years 3 and 4)

Year 4 pupils recently took part in a truly enchanting Performing Arts morning in collaboration with Bedford Prep School, where they were immersed in the adventurous world of Harry Potter. The event provided a wonderful opportunity for children from both schools to come together, explore their creativity and develop their performance skills in a fun and supportive environment.

Throughout the morning, the pupils participated in a range of engaging activities inspired by the wizarding world. In dance, pupils brought spells to life through movement, incorporating wand duelling and magical incantations into their routines. Their energy and imagination were evident as they worked together to create expressive and dynamic performances.

Drama sessions encouraged the children to step into the shoes of well-known characters, focusing on their mannerisms, posture, and behaviours. Working in pairs and small groups, pupils demonstrated confidence and creativity as they explored different roles and brought characters vividly to life.

The morning also included a creative writing element, where children composed haiku poetry. Drawing inspiration from iconic figures such as Hedwig and Sirius Black, pupils conjured powerful imagery and captured the magic of the Harry Potter world in just a few carefully chosen words.

A key focus of the event was collaboration, communication, and mutual support. It was fantastic to see pupils from both schools working together so positively, encouraging one another and building new friendships along the way.

Overall, the Performing Arts morning was a magical and memorable experience for all involved.
