By Mrs Schofield (Head of Years 3 and 4)
Despite the weather preventing our planned outdoor games and activities, Tuesday's Bedford Prep School (BPS) visit for Years 3 and 4 proved to be a fantastic morning full of learning, creativity and friendship.
The children began the day together with an engaging discussion about the forthcoming World Cup. Mrs Crawford-Smith engaged with everyone with the fascinating stories of the two occasions when the World Cup trophy mysteriously went missing. This led to an important conversation about the values we hope to see demonstrated throughout the tournament, both on and off the pitch, and the need to have new designs should the cup go missing again!
The children were then divided into mixed groups, giving boys and girls the opportunity to work together and get to know one another better. Their challenge was to design their own World Cup trophy, identifying the values they felt were most important in competition. The results were truly impressive, with creativity, teamwork and thoughtful discussions evident in every group.
After a quick break to enjoy a Rocket lolly and some time playing outside, the children took part in a wonderful musical workshop led by Mrs Jones and Mrs Parsons. Together, they learned the uplifting song I've Got the Power in Me. During the session, the children explored body percussion, practised singing different parts of the song and even created powerful actions to match its inspiring message. Their enthusiasm and energy filled the room.
The day was a tremendous success. The children thoroughly enjoyed reconnecting with old friends, making new ones and sharing memorable experiences together. We look forward to many more opportunities to work and learn alongside our BPS friends in the future.
