Junior School Music

By Mr Page (Director of Music)

Our Year 5 girls are currently working hard in their music lessons as they learn orchestral instruments in preparation for a performance of the finale from Mozart’s Horn Concerto No. 4 at the Summer Concert on Wednesday 8th July.

Each class has taken on a different section of the orchestra: 5M have been learning the flute, 5W have begun their violin studies, and 5T have been making a suitably bold sound on the trombones. We are looking forward to bringing them all together to perform as our Year 5 orchestra.

Learning a new instrument is a considerable challenge. From producing those first few notes and mastering the correct playing position to learning how to read music, it requires patience, perseverance and determination. However, it is also tremendous fun and a wonderful demonstration of just how quickly children can progress when they apply themselves.

There have already been a few glimpses of their work shared on Instagram, with more likely to appear in the lead-up to the concert.

We hope you enjoy the results of all their hard work at the end of term.
