Junior School Triathlon

By Mrs Inkson (Head of Year 6)

Our Junior Triathlon Club delivered a series of impressive performances across two major events this season: the East Essex Kids Triathlon on Saturday 30th May and the Rob McLean Junior Triathlon in Cambridge on Sunday 14th June. Both races form part of the highly competitive Eastern Junior Series, attracting strong fields of talented young athletes from across the region.

Girls from Years 3-6 proudly represented the school at both fixtures, rising confidently to the varied challenges each course presented. From uneven and technical bike terrain in Essex to the fast, flowing grass circuits in Cambridge, competitors had to adapt quickly, not only to demanding courses but also to complex transition layouts and ever-changing weather conditions.

Across both events, the team demonstrated outstanding resilience. The girls more than held their own in deeply competitive age-group races, with several strong finishes across the Tristar, Tristar 1 and Tristar 2 categories. Their ability to stay focused through each stage, swim, bike and run was particularly notable, alongside confident and increasingly efficient transitions.

These performances reflect the girls’ commitment to twice-weekly training sessions at the Junior School Triathlon Club. Their work ethic and willingness to challenge themselves continue to drive excellent progress.

We are incredibly proud of all those who took part. Their achievements highlight not only individual development but also the strength of triathlon at BGS, with a growing team embracing the demands and rewards of this exciting multi-discipline sport.
