Following her impressive National Championship win late last year, where she was crowned National Champion at the England Boxing National Development Championships, talented boxer Rekha Kambli (Lower Sixth) has continued her remarkable run of success on the international stage.

At the end of January, Rekha travelled to Borås, Sweden, to compete in the Golden Girls Box Cup as part of the Home Counties boxing squad. Facing top athletes from across Europe, Rekha delivered a stunning set of performances in the ring.

She began her campaign with a first-round stoppage victory against an Irish opponent, followed by a second-round stoppage win over a Norwegian boxer the next day. In the final, Rekha once again demonstrated her power and precision, securing another first-round stoppage against a second Irish competitor. Her outstanding efforts contributed to an excellent overall result for the Home Counties team, which brought home three gold and three silver medals.

Rekha, who trains at Bedford Elite Amateur Boxing Club, reflected on the experience: “I thought it was a great first international boxing experience and am planning to go back next year. I also think it was great preparation for the Youth National Championships I am competing in this Sunday.”

We are incredibly proud of Rekha’s achievements and look forward to seeing her continue to excel at both national and international levels.
