We are very proud of Rosie Dempsey (Year 9) who represented BGS at the British Schools Pistol Shooting Championships Eastern Regionals at Norwich High School this past weekend.
It was Rosie’s first time competing as an intermediate athlete at this level with a ten-metre target and a single-handed grip.
Rosie produced a steady performance across her opening three targets and held eighth place in a field of twenty-eight competitors. A single wayward shot in her final round placed her twelfth overall. The twenty-minute event is physically demanding when shooting with one hand and she is continuing to build the muscle memory that supports this technique.
Although she hoped to progress to the top eight for the final, Rosie reflected positively on the experience. She enjoys representing BGS, it was encouraging to see her confident and composed presence on the range following four years of competition.
Over the winter she will return to tetrathlons which include shooting at a seven-metre distance.
