We are proud to celebrate Rekha Kambli (Lower Sixth), who has become the National Champion at the England Boxing National Development Championships. Competing in the 63–66kg division, Rekha produced a composed and confident performance, winning the final with a second-round stoppage.
Rekha, who trains at Bedford Elite Amateur Boxing Club, secured her place in the final with a unanimous points victory in the semi-final. In the final, she faced Tegan Luscombe of Cambourne & Redruth Boxing Club and ended the match decisively in the second round, claiming the national title.
Reflecting on her achievement, Rekha said: “I’ve really enjoyed my training for this competition, which included sparring and training at the England Boxing headquarters in Sheffield. I’m looking forward to competing in the NABGS in a few weeks and the Winter Women’s Box Cup in December before I change to 3-minute rounds in the new year.”
This achievement reflects Rekha’s skill, technique and commitment to the sport. With her record now standing at seven wins from seven bouts, including five stoppages, she has firmly established herself on the national stage.
Rekha now turns her attention to the Women’s Winter Box Cup at Leigh Sports Village in December, following a venue where she won her first title earlier this year. Her progress continues to follow in the footsteps of previous champions who have gone on to notable success in the sport.
