Junior School

By Mrs Inkson (Head of Year 6)

We are thrilled to announce the launch of this year’s Year 6 PYP Exhibition - an exciting and significant part of the IB Primary Years Programme. The Exhibition is a collaborative, student-led inquiry that gives learners the opportunity to explore a real-world issue they care about, applying the knowledge, skills, and learner profile attributes they have developed throughout their time in the PYP.

Our central idea is: Global citizens take action for the future of our planet. The girls are buzzing with enthusiasm as they begin working in small groups of two or three to investigate a wide range of important topics. These include gender equality, ocean pollution, animal extinction and habitat loss, disability rights, fast fashion, and child poverty.

Each group has now developed their three lines of inquiry and begun their research.

Molly (Year 6) shared: “I am really enjoying working in my group. We have started finding out what is really happening regarding how LGBTQ+ people are treated, rather than just knowing it exists.”

Nadia (Year 6) added: “I love working with my group and I think my subject, which is racism, is really quite interesting. I want to raise awareness so people can stop it happening.”

We look forward to seeing the thoughtful action the students take and to celebrating their learning with the whole school community in the coming weeks.
