By Mrs Schofield (Head of Year 4)
On Wednesday, Years 3 and 4 were pleased to welcome BGS parent Mrs Maskell, who spoke about her work at a major government office. The girls were interested to learn that her role connects her to over 280 missions in more than 178 countries, giving a real sense of the global impact of her work.
Mrs Maskell shared how her team is working to reduce the carbon footprint of hundreds of projects by introducing solutions such as solar panels, air source heat pumps and LED lighting. As both year groups have been exploring sustainability in class, it was valuable for them to hear how these ideas are being applied in real-world settings.
A memorable moment came when the girls heard that members of Mrs Maskell’s team have met Their Majesties the King and Queen through their work.
We are always pleased to welcome parents into school to support learning and bring classroom topics to life. Thank you to Mrs Maskell for sharing her experience and helping to spark curiosity in sustainability.
