On Monday, our Year 10 Textiles Design students participated in a highly engaging and productive one-day creative workshop, to help them kick start their coursework project based on the theme of Connections. The day provided an invaluable opportunity for students to explore and experiment with a range of textile techniques, further developing both their creative confidence and technical skills.
Among the highlights of the workshop were sessions in experimental batik, where students applied innovative approaches to wax-resist processes, and practical work using the heat gun to manipulate and enhance surface textures. These hands-on experiences encouraged ambitious exploration and a willingness to take creative risks.
The quality of the resulting trials was excellent, with students producing a wide variety of thoughtful and visually striking samples. These pieces will serve as a strong foundation as they embark on their new projects.
