Senior School Duke of Edinburgh (DofE)

By Miss Sadler (DofE Bronze Coordinator)

Last weekend, 32 students successfully completed their Duke of Edinburgh’s Award expedition. Working in teams, they carried out their assessed journeys, navigating independently and showing outstanding resilience and teamwork throughout.

The warm and challenging conditions pushed students’ endurance and perseverance. Despite the heat, they met the demands with positivity, applying their developing map-reading skills and supporting one another as they moved between checkpoints. Staff were particularly impressed by the students’ maturity, strong problem-solving skills and commitment to fulfilling the expedition requirements.

As well as testing them physically, the expedition offered valuable opportunities to build leadership, collaboration and self-confidence, key elements of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award. Completing this stage represents a significant milestone in each student’s DofE journey, and we are immensely proud of their achievements.

A huge thank you goes to the staff who generously gave their time over the weekend. Their support and dedication made the expedition possible.
