On Tuesday, our Robotics Team travelled to Bedford School for a friendly competition as part of their preparations for their first official event later this year.
After school, the team visited Bedford School for a practice session designed to familiarise them with the competition environment and give them hands-on experience with the robots and arena. It was a valuable opportunity to build both technical skills and confidence.
During the session, the girls developed a clearer understanding of how the arena is set up and the level of precision required to control the robot effectively. With persistence and teamwork, they successfully achieved a stack of three game elements, worth an impressive 15 points in competition.
The team also explored the autonomous element, learning how to upload and test their code on the robot. This introduced them to another key aspect of robotics, combining programming with practical problem-solving.
A particular highlight of the evening was the way the team worked together. Students supported one another throughout, taking turns and ensuring everyone had the chance to develop their skills. Their collaborative approach reflected the spirit of teamwork at the heart of robotics competitions.
The experience has given the team greater confidence and plenty to build on as they continue preparing for the season ahead.
We look forward to following the team’s progress as they work towards their first official competition in October.
