A huge congratulations to our talented equestrian team, who delivered an outstanding performance at the recent NSEA Inter-Schools Grass Roots Show Jumping Qualifiers and County Dressage Qualifiers held at Bury Farm.

It was a particularly successful event for our 40cm riders, where Alice R (Year 7) secured an impressive individual win and helped lead the team to first place. Teammates Anneliese L-S (Year 7) and Eleanor B (Year 6) also performed brilliantly, finishing third and fifth respectively. All three riders have now qualified for the Grass Roots Championships at both Bury Farm and Hickstead.

In the 50cm class, Eleanor B continued her strong form, taking third place individually with Bailey and also securing Grass Roots qualification. At 60cm, Áine C (Year 10) achieved an excellent fifth place individually, contributing to a team third alongside Lucy H (Year 11) and Rosie D (Year 9), with all riders qualifying for the Grass Roots finals.

The success continued in the 70cm class, where the team of Áine C, Rosie D, Lucy H, and Lily S (Year 11) finished third. Áine also delivered a superb clear round to claim fifth place individually, with the team again securing qualification for the finals.

At 80cm, Evelyn B (Year 8) placed fifth individually and was part of the team that finished fifth alongside Cosima F and Lily S. Evelyn’s performance earned her qualification for the RPL Finals at Hickstead. She went on to achieve another fifth place finish in the 90cm class, where she also helped the team of Clover W and Lily S to fourth place, securing a second RPL Finals qualification.

In the dressage arena, Lily S produced a strong test to finish fifth in a Preliminary (P2 Open) dressage class, an entry-level competition open to all riders, while Grace R also delivered a commendable performance with a strong score.

With an impressive 14 entries, BGS had the highest number of competitors at the event, reflecting the strength and enthusiasm of our equestrian programme. A fantastic effort from all riders involved.
