Fresh from their practice expedition, the intrepid students headed up to the White Peaks on Saturday 2nd to Monday 4th May to showcase their skills on the qualifying expedition.

The routes were more demanding, both longer and hillier but all groups rose to the challenge. Again, their support for each other was admirable and their assessors were impressed with their campcraft skills. Words used by the girls to describe their experiences included exhilarating, emotional, adventurous and long!

Group 2, Mayah, Laura, Sophia, Sophie, Lexi and Isla reflected: “We really enjoyed being on Silver DofE in the Peak District during the May bank holiday weekend. In our group we loved learning how to navigate our way around with a map and practicing different skills like cooking with a Trangia. We found some of the walking quite challenging as a group, especially the steep hills!

“Our favourite part was seeing some baby lambs, and we really loved all the scenery and the friendly animals. DofE was a really good experience for all of us, and we spent lots of time together and loved discovering different parts of the Peak District.”

As always, I would like to thank the teachers who give up their time to make these expeditions possible.
