We are pleased to share some excellent equestrian news from our students following a successful weekend of competition.
Despite very cold conditions, BGS riders represented the school at the NSEA county qualifiers held at Bury Farm. Our 80cm showjumping team of Cosima Fadairo (Year 7) riding Jessie, Evelyn Brown (Year 8) riding Tully Belle and Larissa Brown (Year 10) riding Ghost all produced confident rounds to secure qualification for the National Championships at Hickstead in May. The girls worked together with clear focus and strong team spirit throughout the competition.
In addition, Evelyn Brown (Year 8) recorded the fastest clear round in Bedfordshire, earning individual qualification for Hickstead alongside the team result.
BGS also enjoyed success in the higher classes. Larissa Brown (Year 10), NSEA team captain, claimed the county title in the 90cm class with a fast clear on Kiss Me HdH, known at home as Gigi, narrowly finishing ahead of her sister Evelyn Brown (Year 8). Larissa then went on to win both the 1 metre and 1.1 metre county classes riding Lisna Girl, stable name Lily. This marked the first time these heights had been jumped in competition.
Across the day, BGS qualified as county champions for the national finals in five classes.
Further success came from Brooke Bendall (Year 11), who placed third at the British Showjumping competition at Addington Equestrian Centre with her horse Churro. This result has secured their qualification for the Blue Chip Finals taking place in April.
