On Friday 9th January, the Law Society were delighted to welcome BGS alumna Charlotte Forbes Laird (2021) back to BGS to deliver a talk about her journey to becoming a barrister.
After leaving BGS, Charlotte studied English Literature at the University of Warwick. During her time there, she took part in mooting competitions, which inspired her to pursue a postgraduate degree in Law at City St George’s, University of London. She was subsequently awarded the Blackstone Scholarship from Middle Temple and began the ICCA Bar Course in September.
Nawaal (Head Girl) reflected on the talk: “We were extremely grateful to have Charlotte speak to the Law Society and share her journey to the Bar. What made her talk especially impactful was how relatable it was- Charlotte was only at BGS a few years ago, which made it easy for us to see ourselves in her shoes. Hearing from someone who once sat where we are now made the path to the Bar feel far more realistic and achievable.
“Her talk was really informative and honest, and she spoke with such kindness and openness about her experiences, challenges, and successes. We’re very thankful to her for giving up her time to speak with us, as her visit was not only insightful but genuinely inspiring for everyone involved!”
