At BGS we enjoy celebrating the interests our pupils pursue beyond the classroom.
Zoe in Year 5 and Millie in Year 3 have continued to explore their passion for Bharatanatyam, an Indian classical dance form connected to their South Indian heritage. Both pupils were recently presented with trophies by the Deputy Mayor Councillor of Milton Keynes in recognition of their graded achievements.
The girls also took part in their dance school’s fifth anniversary event, one of several performances they have enjoyed this year at festivals and temples. Their interest in Bharatanatyam began after Zoe attended a trial class and found herself drawn to the expressive storytelling and rhythmic movement. Millie soon joined her, and the sisters now enjoy learning the traditions and cultural history that sit at the heart of the art form.
Zoe said: “I like doing Bharatnatyam because I learn a lot about our culture from it and I also get to do a lot of fun performances". Millie added: “I enjoy dancing with my friends and it makes me happy when I dance.”
We are very proud of Zoe and Millie’s dance achievements and look forward to following their progress.
