Many congratulations to Megan Barnicoat (Year 10) who won her individual fifty metre backstroke event at the recent annual Warwick 100 swimming event.

Megan has started the new season well with this win, following her recent appearance at the East Region Winter Regionals. This event is open to swimmers of all ages and her performances, particularly in the eight hundred metre freestyle and two hundred fly, place her highly amongst female swimmers across the region. She is also one of the strongest performing fourteen year olds.

Megan is managing her first year of GCSE studies alongside a demanding training schedule at the City of Peterborough Swimming Club. She is a member of the BGS Athlete Support Programme which provides students with access to a sport specific mentor who can guide them as they balance academic work with the pressures of training at an elite level.

Megan also receives support from the GLL Sports Foundation in recognition of her top eight national ranking.
