This past weekend, 23 enthusiastic triathletes from Years 3-8 at BGS took part in the Bedford Aquathlon held at Robinson Pool and Bedford Park. For many, it was their first taste of a multisport event, and they absolutely rose to the challenge!
The event kicked off with a pool swim, where our athletes put their training to the test, snaking under lane ropes with skill and determination. A swift transition on poolside saw race numbers and trainers flying on before heading out into Bedford Park for the run. Each competitor completed a set number of laps based on their age category, and the effort was phenomenal.
Despite a highly competitive field, our students posted numerous personal bests and kept smiling right to the finish line. Impressively, 16 BGS pupils placed in the top 10 female finishers in their age groups!
Special congratulations go to Imogen (1st female, Year 6), Lily (3rd female, Year 6), and Clara (1st female, Year 4) for their outstanding performances.
Florrie (Year 7) said: “The Bedford Aquathlon was fun and a good challenge. It was nice to see lots of students taking part as well as teachers supporting us. I really enjoyed the competition.”
Georgina (Year 5) added: “The Bedford Aquathon was hard work, but I really enjoyed it. It was my first race like this one, I’m definitely going to do another one!”
This was a fantastic way to wrap up our triathlon season, and we’re excited to build on this momentum over the winter. Well done, everyone!
