By Mrs Button (Year 6 Teacher)

On Friday 26th September, Year 6 enjoyed an exciting visit to Bedford School for a morning of fun and teamwork with their Year 6 students. The aim of the visit was to help the children build new connections, step outside their comfort zones, and practise important collaboration and communication skills by working with people they didn’t already know.

The morning began with a lively duck hunt ice breaker, where students teamed up to search for hidden ducks around the grounds. This helped everyone relax, chat, and start working together in a fun way.

Afterwards, the children were put into mixed groups with Bedford School students and rotated around three different activities: the dance choreography challenge, the handshake challenge, and the picture challenge.

In the dance challenge, groups had to create short routines to perform, blending creativity with teamwork. The handshake challenge focused on body language, eye contact, and clear communication, while the picture challenge required teams to plan carefully and collaborate to recreate an image.

The rotation gave students the chance to work with lots of different people and practise their collaboration skills in varied situations.

The morning was a wonderful opportunity for our students to meet new people, learn how to work effectively in groups, and develop confidence in unfamiliar settings. We are proud of how well they represented our school and look forward to building on these new connections in the future.
