Senior School Duke of Edinburgh (DofE)

By Miss Sadler (Science Teacher and DofE Bronze Coordinator)

Last weekend, 65 students successfully took part in their Duke of Edinburgh’s Award expedition in Bromham, Bedfordshire. The group set out in teams to complete their assessed journeys, navigating independently and demonstrating resilience, teamwork, and determination throughout.

Despite mixed weather conditions, all participants rose to the challenge, showing improved map-reading skills and supporting one another to reach each checkpoint. Staff and volunteer assessors praised the students for their positive attitude, problem-solving, and commitment to completing the expedition requirements.

The experience not only tested physical endurance but also encouraged leadership, cooperation and perseverance, qualities at the heart of the DofE programme. Completing this expedition marks a significant step forward in each student’s award journey, and we are very proud of their achievements.

I would like to thank all of the staff who gave up their time over the weekend - we wouldn’t have been able to run this expedition without them.
