Sixth Form Lacrosse

On Sunday 7th September, both the 1st and 2nd lacrosse teams travelled to Berkhamsted to compete in the annual Berko 10’s Tournament at Chesham Road. This prestigious event attracts some of the strongest lacrosse schools in the country, several of whom finished at the top of last season’s National Finals. Matches ran for two to three hours in 26-degree heat, making for a demanding but exciting day.

The tournament marked the first time this year that the squads combined experienced Sixth Form players with new Year 11s stepping into senior lacrosse. It was an excellent opportunity to bond as a group, lay the foundations for the season, and prepare for the county tournament in October.

The 2nd team faced tough opponents including Putney, Habs, Berkhamsted, St George’s, Wycombe Abbey and St Catherine’s. Their standout moment came in a hard-fought victory over Habs, showing strong teamwork and determination.

The 1st team faced a challenging group including St George’s, Habs, Queen Anne’s, St Catherine’s, St Swithun’s, Moreton Hall, North London Collegiate and St Albans. Despite tired legs from the previous day’s hockey commitments, the girls rose to the challenge, with a particularly memorable 6–1 win over last year’s National Champions, Queen Anne’s.

Special mention goes to goalkeepers Suhki Sahota and Brooke Bendall for a string of crucial saves throughout the day.

Overall, this was a positive start, with the players working well together and finishing in good spirits, ready for the season ahead.
