Junior School Trips and Excursions

By Mrs Inkson (Head of Year 6)

Last week, Year 6 enjoyed a fantastic residential visit to the Preston Montford Field Studies Centre, with beautiful weather throughout. The girls had the opportunity to develop their scientific fieldwork skills through a range of hands-on activities. These included invertebrate hunts, pond dipping and an experiment exploring which materials would be most effective for building a nest. A highlight was observing bees up close in the bee hotel.

Beyond science, the trip offered plenty of adventure and teamwork. The girls took part in team-building games, low ropes challenges, bouldering and bushcraft, where they practised shelter building and fire lighting. The residential ended with the much-anticipated Great Egg Drop Challenge, which brought plenty of laughter and creative thinking.

Throughout the trip, the girls were praised by staff for their excellent behaviour, positive attitude and polite manners. They embraced every activity and supported one another throughout.

Mealtimes were another highlight, with everyone enjoying the delicious food provided by the centre.

We are very proud of how the girls represented BGS, and we are sure they have come away with wonderful memories and a few new skills too.
