Last week, Year 5 enjoyed a peaceful and energising break from their usual routine with a one-hour yoga session for each class, led by a professional instructor and parent, Mrs Dagger. The sessions offered the girls a chance to explore mindfulness, movement and teamwork in a calm and supportive setting.
They were introduced to a range of poses, some relaxing and some more active, all taught with a sense of fun and creativity. A highlight was telling a story through yoga, with the girls becoming trees, animals and even waves of the ocean as the tale unfolded.
They also worked in pairs, trying partner poses that encouraged balance, communication and trust. Laughter and encouragement filled the room as they helped one another stretch, balance and stay focused.
Each session ended with a guided relaxation. The room fell quiet as the girls lay still, focusing on their breathing and letting go of any tension.
The girls came away feeling refreshed and proud of what they had achieved together, having enjoyed both the physical activity and the opportunity to reflect.
Harriett (5W) said: “I found it very peaceful. It stretched my muscles, but it was so relaxing, I think I fell asleep at the end!”
