Our Young Enterprise Club launched in April and has been a great success, with over 50 enthusiastic members from Years 3-6, supported by our Lower Sixth Business and Economics students. Each week, they arrive bursting with ideas to make a positive impact on our community.
Working in teams, pupils identified key issues they felt passionate about and pitched their ideas to Mrs Howe (Head of Junior School). The two chosen initiatives focus on personal identity in school and toy recycling, and the teams have now joined forces to deliver both projects.
To support the identity project, members have been busy making House badges to sell at the Young Enterprise stall at CultureFest on Saturday 28th June, 2.00-4.00pm at BGS. Created from recycled materials by our DT department, the badges cost £2 and can be worn on school blazers.
For the toy recycling initiative, the team is launching the BGS Toy Swishing Station. We will begin with a Toy Tombola at CultureFest, using donations from the school community. Funds raised will go towards storage for the new swap system, where pupils can exchange toys next year to encourage repurposing and reduce waste. Tombola turns are 50p each.
We will also be selling handmade bracelets and keyrings to raise money for future Young Enterprise projects.
The team has worked with great energy this term to bring their ideas to life. Please visit the stall at CultureFest to support their work and be part of the change.
