By Mrs Lovett (Head of Food and Nutrition)
Our Year 8 Food and Nutrition students have once again risen to the challenge in this year’s Greens Kitchen Dish competition. Tasked with designing a healthy, protein-rich meal suitable for the school menu, the students showed great creativity and independence in both their ideas and execution.
After some deliberation, the winning dish was selected by Head Chef, Mr Howard. Congratulations to Eva Jackson (8AOH) for her innovative Burger Pizza - a fun and clever fusion that balances popular flavours with practicality for school service. Her dish was praised for its originality, appeal to students and ease of production in a school setting.
The finalists also impressed with their dishes:
- Aaleyah Khan (8SMH) – One Pot Chicken Casserole
- Simone Erwig (8AOH) – Teriyaki Chicken & Broccoli
- Maryam Ahmed (8CRS) – Beef, Broccoli & Rice Bowl
All the students demonstrated an excellent understanding of the brief and the nutritional needs of a balanced school meal. It was fantastic to see them applying their knowledge in such a practical and imaginative way. Well done to everyone who took part!
