On Tuesday, our U13 cricket team took to the field with confidence as they faced Brentwood School in the first round of the T20 National cricket cup. Electing to field first, BGS showed excellent discipline and teamwork from the outset, applying some consistent pressure with the ball and in the field.
All bowlers contributed effectively, with each player playing their part in restricting Brentwood School to a total of 114 runs. BGS took four wickets, capitalising on their opponents' errors and demonstrating sharp fielding and awareness. The team’s bowling stood out in the match, with consistent energy and focus throughout the innings.
In response, BGS batted with composure and focus. Solid contributions from Emily, Hattie and Millie provided a strong foundation for the chase. A special mention goes to Esmé, who anchored the innings with an outstanding half-century, guiding the team with confidence and control. Her performance with the bat contributed to the win and reflected a composed approach at the crease.
It was a well-rounded team performance from BGS, combining discipline in the field with strength and composure in the chase.
We progress to the next round as bold, imaginative and reflective cricketers!
