Mrs Schofield (Head of Year 4)

Year 4 have really started to use their thinking skills with their new unit of inquiry, ‘Past civilisations, shape and help us understand present day cultures’.

The girls were given envelopes with images of different cultural artefacts and monuments from ancient civilisations. They had to link different items, and think about how each piece provided evidence of people being organised, with shared beliefs and values. It was wonderful to see the girls making connections with their learning from Year 3, as each unit ties back into the theme of ‘Where we are in Place and Time’.

Jenna Mistry said: “I am so excited to find out about the Mayans and the Aztecs!” The girls have also shown they have started to think about how identity is tied to our culture and society we live in. We look forward to seeing how the girls will show the development of their understanding in a final project.
