Junior School Wellbeing

By Mrs Thomas (Year 5 Teacher)

On Thursday evening, our Year 5 and 6 girls came together for a Silent Disco that proved to be a thoughtful and enjoyable way to end the week.

The hall was filled with movement as the girls danced to their favourite tunes, switched channels and shared an impressive range of routines. Beyond the colourful lights and laughter, the evening supported wellbeing. Dancing gives young people space to express themselves, release energy, reduce stress and enjoy the moment and our pupils embraced this with enthusiasm. The disco offered a safe and inclusive environment where every student could relax and take part in the simple joy of moving to music.

A highlight of the evening was the strong sense of community spirit. Year 5 and 6 worked closely together, teaching each other different steps, copying routines and offering encouragement. The shared headphones prompted even more conversation and connection. Teachers joined the girls on the dance floor, adding to the warm atmosphere.

It was a memorable celebration of music, movement, friendship and wellbeing and a reminder of the value of shared experiences within our school community.
