By Mrs Parsons (Deputy Director of Music)

On Tuesday morning this week, girls in Year 6 were hugely lucky to have a visit from the well-known stage and screen actor (and Year 6 parent!) Ben Richards, who is currently starring in the West End production of Moulin Rouge!

Renowned for his roles as Police Constable Nate Roberts on the long-running TV series The Bill, Ben Bradley in the soap opera Hollyoaks, Justin Fuller in Holby City, and Bruno Milligan in Footballers Wives, as well as leading roles in West End productions including The Bodyguard, Priscilla Queen of the Desert, Grease, Peter Pan, and Saturday Night Fever.

Mr Richards very generously took time from his packed performance schedule to deliver two workshops, working with the girls on their collaborative skills, so important to the PYP IB curriculum, and running games to develop improvisation and creativity. Several girls commented on how much fun it was to learn new techniques from someone with real stage experience, and teachers noted how engaged and confident the girls were throughout. It was a fantastic way to start Tuesday!

Grace J (Year 6) said: “It was fun and engaging learning different techniques in drama.”

India (Year 6) added: “I enjoyed that we played a lot of games. It seemed like we weren’t actually acting whilst doing them but we were!”
