Last week, as part of this year’s Mental Health Awareness Week, our Year 3 and 4 girls embraced the power of community, movement, teamwork, and fun during a brilliant Sports Activity Afternoon with the boys from Bedford Prep School on Thursday 5th May.
The afternoon was filled with energetic activities, including diamond cricket and a variety of relay-style team challenges such as skipping, sack racing, hockey ball dribbling and an obstacle course. There was excitement from the moment we set off, with all students demonstrating real eagerness and enthusiasm to get involved, support one another, and try their best.
The girls displayed exceptional team spirit, resilience and communication skills as they worked through each task. Whether cheering on teammates, strategizing during games, or simply enjoying the company of new friends, the collaboration and positivity on display were truly uplifting.
The afternoon offered much more than a chance to develop cricketing skills. It gave our pupils the opportunity to connect with one another, express themselves, communicate, and grow in confidence through sport and movement. The rocket lollies at the end were a very welcome treat too.
We’re grateful to Bedford Prep School for hosting us, and to all the staff who helped make the afternoon such a positive experience. Most importantly, well done to every student who took part. You showed real courage, kindness and a strong sense of connection - qualities we value deeply at BGS.
We returned to school tired, happy and proud, a perfect reminder of how important it is to make time for activity, connection and play.
