Last weekend (17th-19th May), students from the Junior and Senior School produced outstanding Speech and Drama performances at the Northampton Festival of Performing Arts.

Held at the Old Savoy Home of The Deco Theatre, BGS entered various talents ranging verse, prose and reading.

First established in 1977, the Festival provides a welcome platform for participants to perform in front of an encouraging audience and receive constructive, professional adjudication which will promote further development. The range of classes provides opportunities for people of all ages and standards.

Our first performers were Year 7 students, Evie Howlett and Frances Penny, who both enjoyed performing in costume on the fantastic theatre stage in the Years 7 and Year 8 Duologue class and were thrilled to receive 2nd place. Throughout the weekend, students of all ages received praise and commendations for their verse, prose and reading. In the final class of the Festival, Year 4 pupils, Annie Burgess and Charlotte Milne, had fun sharing their humorous poem in the All-Ages Duet class and were awarded with a 3rd place medal.
