This summer, Megan Barnicoat (Year 10) continued to impress in swimming, retaining her East Region Open Water age group title over the 3km course.
Megan’s victory secured qualification for another national event, adding to the 200m fly where she had already earned her place at the Go Cardless Swim England National Championships after her age group win at the East Region Championships.
Megan, who trains with City of Peterborough Swimming Club, has now qualified for the national stage for the third consecutive season at just 14 years old.
She is also a GLL Sports Foundation supported athlete, having received an Under 18 Top Up Award in recognition of her continued top 8 national ranking. The programme provides financial support, training memberships to sports facilities, physiotherapy and more to help Megan continue her development.
