We are incredibly proud of two of our swimmers who have qualified for national competitions.

Congratulations to Megan Barnicoat (Year 10), who won gold, retaining the 200m butterfly regional title at the recent Swim England East Championships in April 2026. Bringing Megan’s regional championship titles to an impressive eight wins, she also captured two silvers in the 800m and 1500m freestyle.

This is the fourth consecutive year Megan’s times have secured qualification for nationals, with events at both the Aquatics GB Next Gen Championships and the Swim England national championships due to be held in July.

Megan has achieved this success while balancing her first year of GCSE studies with a demanding training schedule at City of Peterborough Swimming Club. A member of the BGS Athlete Support Programme, Megan has been supported so she can manage her academic commitments alongside the pressures of elite level training and competition.

Florrie Richbell (Year 7) has qualified for the English Nationals as an S12 swimmer. This meant that she had to achieve 400 points in her listed para races, which are restricted to seven events. 1000 points is a world record level.

Florrie has qualified in the 200m IM with 425 points (3.19.26 SC), the 100m backstroke – her favourite, with 415 points (1.30.90 LC), and the 50m freestyle with 421 points (35.64 LC).

Florrie’s qualifying window is still open, and she has the National Junior Para Championships in June, so Florrie is hoping to get the time for the 100m freestyle that she is very close to.

Both students have shown real commitment in the pool while balancing the demands of school life, many congratulations.
