We are proud to share that BGS alumna and Team GB cyclist Sophie Lewis (2020) has been selected to represent Team England at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games.
The cycling squad, set to compete at the iconic Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome this summer, brings together an exciting blend of youth and experience. The star-studded team includes 11 previous Commonwealth Games medallists alongside 14 debutants, highlighting the strength and depth of talent within British cycling.
Sophie returns to the Commonwealth stage following her impressive bronze medal performance at Birmingham 2022. This summer, she will once again compete in the women’s endurance events, with her sights firmly set on the top step of the podium. She joins a formidable line-up that includes world champions Josie Knight and Maddie Leech.
Since leaving BGS, Sophie has gone on to achieve great success in her sport, including a bronze medal in the team pursuit at the 2025 UEC European Track Championships. She also races for the DAS-Handsling UCI Women’s Continental cycling team on the road. Her journey from school to the international stage reflects the hard work and commitment we encourage in all our students.
