Whole School Girls' Leadership Group

On Wednesday, the outgoing Girls’ Leadership Group (GLG) in the Upper Sixth formally handed over to the incoming Lower Sixth team, marking the transition with an afternoon of team-building activities at Cople Fields.

Incoming Head Girl, Hatty Parry, reflected on the day: “The GLG team-building afternoon is an annual tradition at BGS, where the incoming GLG is challenged to prepare a celebratory meal and activities for the outgoing GLG, wishing them a warm farewell while learning from their reflections on their experiences in their roles.

“With the food team cooking up a storm, the décor team hanging wisteria, and the entertainment team laying out plant pots to paint, preparations for the arrival of the outgoing GLG were chaotic, but exciting! Upon their arrival, we welcomed them with a huge inflatable obstacle course, with the high-jump airbag leaving us all slightly stunned! The mayhem quickly settled as we served lunch and drinks, and Nawaal and her team offered us valuable advice on how to approach our roles.

“After our meal, we each painted a small plant pot and planted sunflower seeds, giving the outgoing GLG a souvenir to remember their time as part of the GLG.

“From the event, we learned how to collaborate effectively as a team and adapt when faced with unexpected challenges, while also gaining a deeper understanding of what being part of the GLG at BGS really means.”
