Our Upper Sixth and Year 11 students concluded an important chapter this summer, achieving results that reflected their commitment, focus and the supportive environment of BGS.

The 2025 examination results across the IB Diploma Programme, A Levels, and GCSEs were outstanding. Earlier in the summer term, our IB cohort achieved an average score of 36 points, well above the global average of 30 with one student attaining an exceptional 44 points out of a possible 45.

Across both A Level and IB Diploma entries, three quarters of grades awarded were A*-B. Impressively, 97% of our Upper Sixth students secured offers from their chosen universities, with over 62% heading to Russell Group institutions.

GCSE results were equally commendable: two-thirds of all entries were awarded grades 9 to 7, and a quarter achieved the top grade of 9. This cohort has demonstrated remarkable resilience and dedication, culminating in results that reflect their hard work and perseverance.

We take great pride in the diverse paths our students pursue. The breadth of further study destinations is a testament to their individuality and ambition. From music conservatoires to Lancaster University and the University of Bath. The range of courses is equally inspiring: English Language and Literature at Oxford; Neuroscience at Bristol; Engineering at Durham; PPE at Exeter; Mechatronics and Robotic Engineering at Birmingham; Natural Sciences at Durham; Medicine at Queen Mary; Pharmacology at Nottingham; Economics and Geography at Leeds; Business and Management at York; Architecture at Edinburgh; Computer Science at Warwick; Music at Nottingham; and Performance Design at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, to name but a few.

Mrs Gibson, Headmistress reflected on these achievements: “I am truly proud of all our students this year. Their hard work, perseverance and positive attitude have really paid off. These results reflect not only their academic ability but also their character and determination. It’s wonderful to see them ready to take the next steps in their journeys, supported by a strong community here at school.”
