I began working at BGS at the beginning of 2025. It had been a school I had aspired to work for some time, so I regularly checked for vacancies and was absolutely delighted to be offered the role of Director of Safeguarding.
Before having children, I worked in the distribution sector as an HR and Project Manager, before transitioning to education. I spent seven years at Samuel Whitbread School, first as a cover supervisor and later as an unqualified maths teacher, where I discovered my strengths in pastoral care. This led me to Redborne Upper School, where over 14 years I gained extensive experience in pastoral support and safeguarding, eventually becoming Designated Safeguarding Lead, Senior Pastoral Support Officer, and a member of the Senior Leadership Team. After a brief role supporting schools for Central Bedfordshire Council, I returned to working directly with young people, joining Bedford Girls' School.
I love working at BGS, where the girls are truly at the centre of all we do. My colleagues are incredibly supportive, consistently going the extra mile and fostering a genuine culture of care. Safeguarding can be challenging, but knowing you are supported by such a team makes a real difference.
