Whole School Diversity and Inclusion

On Thursday, our Diversity and Inclusion team organised a vibrant Cultural Dress Up Day event.

The school community were encouraged to wear something that best represented their culture or identity, whether it was a representation of where they are from or something they are passionate about. They took part in a fashion show in the Assembly Hall at lunchtime, which featured incredible outfits and some fantastic dance moves!

Reyah Rizwan (Diversity and Inclusion Captain) reflected on the event: “The first event for the Diversity and Inclusion team was proven to be a huge success. Culture Day is always highly anticipated by both students and staff across the senior school and truly remains one of the highlights of the summer term. It was inspiring to see everyone proudly expressing their cultures and identities through traditional clothing, which was beautifully showcased during the lunchtime fashion show.

“The atmosphere throughout the day was vibrant, energetic and full of positivity, with students enthusiastically supporting and celebrating one another.

“The fashion show in particular brought the whole school community together, creating an unforgettable celebration of diversity and inclusion. It was amazing to witness the confidence, creativity and pride shown by everyone who took part, and the overwhelming support from the audience made the event even more special. I feel very honoured to have had the chance to organise such an event!”

Hawk Kamau (Diversity and Inclusion Prefect): "It's always been amazing to see so many different countries and cultures at BGS on Culture Day; this year was no different! I was blown away by a majority of the outfits I saw during the day and talking to people about their outfits and their countries was also a highlight to this day. I'm so glad that I got to experience this day and I hope next year's Culture Day will be as expressive as this one.”
