Last Wednesday (22nd April) our Bold Beginnings webinar returned to provide more guidance to our alumnae community, with this episode particularly aimed at those navigating the recruitment environment and entering the workplace in the next year.

A huge thank you to BGS Governor, Rachel Gentry, for delivering a brilliant session on Mastering Online Assessments. We are all too aware that our young alumnae are facing an increasingly competitive job market, where online assessments are commonplace at a starting point for most jobs. Rachel has extensive experience in business and security consultancy across a vast range of organisations from Banking to the Civil Service, Telecommunications and Retail and Financial Technology. She has experienced both sides of assessments; taking part in several assessments herself as well as facilitating them for potential candidates.

The session was designed to equip our university-aged alumnae with the confidence and competence to familiarise themselves in today’s online recruitment assessment landscape, whether preparing for Civil Service Fast Stream tests, applying to major graduate schemes, or navigating the increasingly digital selection processes used by large corporations.

Rachel shared her expertise from a variety of settings and provided a broad and clear overview of the different types of assessments. Rachel demystified what candidates can expect, gave advice on how to use judgement and logic and provided an insight into what employers are looking for so you perform at your best.

Rachel gave her audience an additional boost by praising the BGS education they had received and said it prepared future employees well for what’s ahead.

We are proud of our Bold Beginnings series as it continues to play a key role in supporting our alumnae as they take their next steps, offering practical guidance to help them thrive beyond school.
